In an effort to win at least one game after the 4-0 sweep from the Dallas Mavericks, the Lakers went to the Boys & Girls Club of Los Angeles where they were challenged to a pick-up game against Jeffrey Walters and his friends from his elementary class.
“I don’t know what happened,” said Laker’s center Pau Gasol, “I got the tip-off, but everything went down-hill from there.”
“We just broke down, plain and simple,” said Kobe Bryant in a post-game interview.
The turning point came with Bynum’s ejection in the third quarter where he clothes lined second grader Jimmy Landfert on a lay-up. Bynum was escorted out by Ron Artest, who was on the sideline selling rap albums to the crowd.
Bynum’s response to the refs, “That little [explicit] is too old to be in the second grade. Plus he was talking [explicit] the entire game.”
